Mary Ann Sands Lay Organization – The purpose of the Lay Organization is to organize and train the laity of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. It is dedicated to promoting the history, traditions, principals, discipline, evangelistic, financial and general well-being of African Methodism. The Lay is also charged with keeping alive the memory of our founder, Bishop Richard Allen. The Lay also studies the book of Discipline and learns the law of the church. It encourages financial support of the church’s programs and teaches stewardship practices to the youth and new members. The Lay also supports various church programs and organizations and gets involved with social action in the church community.

Lydia Harris Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) – The Lydia Harris Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) supports the connectional Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The WMS is composed of individuals who seek to help each person grow in the knowledge and experience of God through his son Jesus Christ. The WMS also seeks fellowship and provides opportunities and resources to meet the changing needs and concerns of women and youth through training, recruitment, Christian witnessing, and community outreach. The WMS also organizes charitable activities and signature outreach in alignment with connectional activities of the WMS of the AME Church and helping the church to address the needs of the local church and community.

Young People’s Division (YPD) – The mission of the Young People’s Department (YPD) is to be a unified body with Christ-like qualities, build a Connectional bond that demonstrates pride through Education, Communication and Mission Work.

Christian Education and Church School – The Book of Discipline charges the Department of Christian Education with the responsibility of “developing standards, preparing programs, offering classes, teaching Christian education, publishing material, training people for pastoral ministry and other church vocations” in accordance with the tradition and doctrine of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. As such the Christian Education Ministry includes the following ministry focus areas:

  • Health and Wellness Ministry – The Health and Wellness brings congregational and community awareness about health through information, programming, and community based collaborations, initiatives, and projects; an off-shoot of this ministry will be a sports outreach ministry.
  • Social Action Ministry – The Social Action Ministry is an opportunity to formally bring awareness about social issues and action items of impact including but not limited to voter registration efforts, events bringing awareness to impactful policy initiatives and decisions.
  • Drama and Worship Arts Ministry – The Drama and Worship Arts Ministry is an opportunity to develop a ministry dedicated to dramatic performance within biblical and historical events that enriches the telling of the Gospel and pivotal moments through artistic and dramatic storytelling.
  • Community Partnerships Ministry – The Community Partnerships Ministry – The Community Partnerships Ministry is an opportunity to expand our mission and outreach efforts with the support of grants, sponsored funding, and an opportunity to develop additional signature church-wide programs.
  • Evangelism Ministry – The Evangelism Ministry is an outreach ministry solely designed to honor the Great Commission by making disciples and bringing souls to know, love, and become saved by Christ.

Media and Technology – This ministry is the first of its kind at Mt. Gilboa and is tasked with streaming and producing content for the church’s hybrid worship model. As an innovative ministry of the church, this ministry is in constant evolution as it integrates best practices and industry standards to present the worship services and events of the church in a digital space.

Young Adult Ministry (YAM) – This ministry is for church members between the ages of 21 – 45 who seek to utilize fellowship and a desire to grow in Christ through events, bible study, and service opportunities.

Men’s Ministry – The Men’s Ministry is organized to foster closer relationships between men of the church, to equip men of the church for meaningful service, to reach unchurched men, and to present positive role models for our youth.

Women’s Ministry – The Women’s Ministry is organized to foster closer relationships between women of the church, to equip women of the church for meaningful service, to fellowship and to bridge meaningful opportunities to grow in one’s faith. Signature ministry events include special bible studies, Women of the Word Prayer Call Series, Revival and Church-Wide events during Women’s Season.
